"Well, I like crafts and all and i like to play with my friends too." - 6 years old
BLPA focuses on building a positive self-image for each child from infancy to school age. Both our interpersonal home and school environment are directed toward a supportive, trustworthy, and interesting setting. This gives each child the opportunity to have a wide variety of experiences in a protective environment. Our directors, teachers, and staff are trained and continue to be trained to project a sense of consistent warmth and support for children. They learn to redirect children when necessary, set appropriate boundaries, all while creating memorable experiences to enhance their growth development. Our program and curriculum are based on many years of training and research extracted from other programs such as Merritt College Children’s Lab, Mills College Children’s Lab, and other childcare resources enabling our direction to provide similar care and instruction. The foundation and passion to create the Academy, stems from Lake Merritt Little People; a family daycare operated since 1979, providing loving and stimulating care for eight hundred plus families here in the Bay Area.
